When it come to the rapid prototyping of power electronics, one of the simplest ways to start working is to rely on pre-manufactured and pre-tested power modules. Independently from the desired topology, such modules can be assembled to form a working power converter system in a blink of an eye.
These full-bridge modules are ready to be operated in any R&D environement, in order to quickly test and validate converter topologies or control algorithms. They embed all the required auxiliaries, such as isolated gate drivers, measurement, cooling and safety. Combined with the BoomBox, rapid control prototyping becomes truly easy!
Available with standard fiber optic interfaces for gating signals as well as analog outputs for measurements, PEH modules can work with any kind of controller. Optionally, the user can develop its own custom interfaces by replacing the mezzanine board. These modules can conveniently be integrated in a 19” chassis.
PEH modules are ideally suited to build up multilevel converter setups such as Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC, CHB, etc.). Along with their embedded sensors, nothing more is required (apart from wiring) to assemble and run the most complex converters. All modules embed some programmable components on board : 2 microcontrollers and one CPLD. By default, these components are ensuring the safety of the module as well as its automated by-passing in case of fault. Optionally, the user can customize the firmware to enable advanced features such as 2-to-4 gating signal coding, different fault behavior, etc.
